About Us
Evergreen Arcade is a place for simple, classic games you can play directly in your browser. No downloads, no registration and no unnecessary distractions.
I build browser-friendly versions of card, board, dice, puzzle and logic games that many of us grew up playing. Some stay close to the traditional game, while others include my own touches such as difficulty levels, series modes, personal bests and the recurring computer opponents Marty, Martin and Martimus.
Each game also comes with its own guide covering how to play, strategies worth trying and a little bit of history or trivia about the game.
The Creator
Who am I?
My name is Áki and I’m from Iceland. I’m in my early 40s and I quit my daily job to pursue the dream of creating something meaningful in my life. Or at least to give some tiny enjoyment to people in the form of games and other things. This website is the first step towards that.
I’m self taught in the world of web design and creation. I also seek advice from my tech-savy friend who’s generally far too busy for these kinds of silly shenanigans.
Side note. Funny how “the creator” sounds god like. Hope I won’t get too attached to that idea!
Why Did I Make This Website?
There are plenty of gaming websites packed with complicated interfaces, flashing distractions, pop-ups and registration forms. I’ve never particularly enjoyed those kinds of sites. I wanted Evergreen Arcade to be different. Choose a game, understand what you’re looking at and start playing. As simple as that.
I also don’t want the site designed around keeping people trapped in an endless gaming loop. Play a few rounds, have some fun, maybe learn something about the game and then go enjoy the rest of your day. Real life is more important.
That’s basically the idea behind Evergreen Arcade: simple games, thoughtfully made, without unnecessary distractions.

I used to play table tennis for the Icelandic national team and traveled around the world competing
About 20 years ago Iparticipated in a beauty pageant named Mister Iceland. I did not win, such a shame.
I once became so fascinated with Bruce Lee and kung-fu movies that I almost moved abroad to become a kung-fu monk.
How Evergreen Arcade Games Are Made
The games on Evergreen Arcade are built specifically for the site rather than simply being a collection of links to games elsewhere. I choose a classic game, work out how I want our version to play, build and test it, and then create the guide that accompanies it.
The goal isn’t to reinvent every classic. It’s to make versions that are straightforward to play while adding small touches where they make sense.
That’s also how Marty, Martin and Martimus came about. They’ve gradually become Evergreen Arcade’s recurring computer opponents, with different personalities and difficulty levels depending on the game.
